0 Things to Do in Essaouira, Morocco

Essaouira Morocco is an isolated part of the Western region of the country, in the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. As its name suggests, the town's natural beauty is its main attraction in drawing tourists and visitors from around the world. Most notable of the town's visitors were writer and director Orson Welles, who filmed in the city walls for his classic version of Othello in the 1950s. However, the main attraction of the town, due to its proximity to the ocean, is the long and wide beach. The city's beaches are usually filled with tourists and locals alike. There are isolated areas south of the beach if you want to stay clear of the crowds, but remember to be back in the main stream before high tide as the path becomes filled with water during that time. Also, be sure to bring provisions like food and drinks if you decide to stay for a while as there aren't really stores close to the beach area, and the nearest stalls sell very pricey food and drinks.
One kind of food is very affordable in Essaouira Morocco, though. The seafood in Essaouira is very fresh, probably the best in Morocco, and comes cheap. At the Essaouira port, fish stalls there will even offer to cook the seafood you bought! If shopping is your thing, Essaouira also provides decent retail options. Most recommended to be bought here would be Thuya wood items. There are workshops around town where you can observe how these products, such as boxes, furniture, and other ornaments are hand crafted. The craftsmen even allow custom orders and special requests.
If you want some time to just have a laid back time in Essaouira Morocco then you must pay the port a visit. Be dazzled by the vibrant colors of the boats. Near the port would be the Portuguese Fort that offers a splendid view of the whole town and the sea.
Accommodation in Essaouira Morocco is not that extensive as the other larger cities like Rabat of Fes. An excellent choice would be the former residence of music legend Jimi Hendrix, the Hotel Riad al Madina. The accommodating staff and the beautiful restoration will definitely make the stay worthwhile.
